Beavens Court, East Street, Warminster

Friday 21st October 2016:

Beaven's Court, East Street, Warminster, BA12 9BS
Research shows that the building originally served as stabling for several generations of the Halliday family (who lived in the adjacent Yard House, also on the north side of East Street). Stone plaques, indicate alterations to the building, one is dated 1909 and bears the initials JEH - for John Edmund Halliday, whilst an earlier plaque dated 1885 carries the initials JSH, probably those of his father. More recently the building served as a laboratory and offices for E.S. Beaven Ltd., a division of the Guinness brewing conglomerate, until in 1996 the building was imaginatively converted into three homes with the name Beaven's Court.
