Frome Independent Market

Join us in Frome on Sunday 6th May 2018 when we will have a Frome Independent Market celebrating the coming of Somerset’s springtime.

We are teaming up with Somerset Garden Day to offer you a glorious bank holiday sunday celebrating plants, gardens and outdoor living. We’ll be hosting some rural springtime traditions too, including maypoles, Morris dancers and flower crowns.

Throughout the market, you’ll be able to stock up on seasonal greenery, from fresh fruit, veg and flowers in Somerset Farmers Markets, to plants, seeds and garden sculptures in our Homes & Gardens section.

The Village Green will be the setting for our free activities, which have been inspired by traditional, rural traditions. You can watch a spot of Maypole Dancing from students at Oakfield school, as well as some Morris Dancing from all -female morris dancing side, Boss Morris. The team from Somerset Garden Day will be found outside the Library, with enough freshly cut flowers to create 500 flower crowns. Visitors can drop in throughout the market day, and learn how to make themselves a fresh flower crown in the style of a traditional May Queen.

All this, plus all your favourite fantastic street-food, talented designer-makers and wonderful vintage traders. You can catch live acoustic music on the Market Place stage throughout the day, and our friends at Vintage Mobile Disco will have your Sunday soundtrack sorted down at the Village Green.

Our special market day Park & Ride bus service will run throughout the day from Frome Medical Practice carpark and Selwood School. If you’re travelling from out of town, we can highly recommend taking the train. Great Western Railway's Sunday services will get you to and from Frome on market days from Bristol, Bath, Dorset and Wiltshire. For full visitor information, check out the VISIT page on our website:
