Singlespeed Around The World
a talk by
Markus Stitz
at
Warminster Civic Centre,
Sambourne Road, Warminster, BA12 8LB
on
Thursday 24th May 2018
7.00 p.m.
26 countries, 34,000 km.
From
3rd September 2015 to 27th August 2016
Markus Stitz rode around the world with
only
one gear on his bike, a customised Surly Ogre.
During his journey
he saw the Aurora Borealis
in Iceland, braved minus 17C in
New Mexico,
pushed up the world's steepest
street in Dunedin, crossed the Australian
Outback,
cycled through 40C in Thailand, climbed up
to 3150m in Iran,
cycled the Anatolian Highlands
and the Alps and rode the famous cobbles
of Flanders. All to prove that it can be done.
One gear is enough to
cycle the world.
This engaging talk is presented with pictures,
videos, and stories from the road,
sometimes tragic, most times funny.
‘warm, engaging and fun, with an infectious
enthusiasm that had the audience charmed from
beginning to end. Watch
out for this guy . . .
he’ll be tearing up the adventure film festival
circuit for many years to come!’
