Friday 27th July 2018:

The Lake Pleasure Grounds (Town Park), Warminster have been recognised by the Green Flag Award Scheme as one of the very best in the UK. The grounds cover 6.5 hectares and are a very short walk from the town centre.

The Lake Pleasure Grounds are amongst a record-breaking 1,883 UK parks and green spaces that have been awarded a prestigious Green Flag Award – the mark of a quality park or green space.

The award is a sign to the public that the Lake Pleasure Grounds boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.

Councillor Denis Brett said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for a second year in a row. It is a tribute to all those involved. We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining the Lake Pleasure Grounds to such a high standard. Park facilities include: a boating lake, bandstand, cafĂ©, children's play area, multi-use games area, a paddling pool, skatepark, tennis courts, toilets, wildlife, a wild flower area, and a sensory garden. In addition, events are held in the Lake Pleasure Grounds including ‘Spring in the Park’ and ‘Inspire’.”

International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “Each flag honours the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award. We are proud to have so many wonderful green spaces in the UK for people to enjoy, and hope that next year, we award even more flags.”

A ceremony to raise the Green Flag took place at Warminster's Lake Pleasure Grounds (Town Park) on Thursday 26th July 2018 at 2.00 p.m.
