Tuesday 23rd October 2018:
Look out for Magical Lantern Workshops which will be held at Warminster Civic Centre this Half Term. Warminster Town Council, together with the Three Horseshoes Walk Shopping Centre, has arranged two free workshops which will run on Tuesday 30th October and Thursday 1st November 2018 from 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m.
What’s more, there will be a competition to be judged on the evening of the Christmas Lights Switch-On (Saturday 24th November 2018) to decide on two winning lanterns (school-aged children up to 16 can enter) and the owners of the winning lanterns will have the honour of turning on the Warminster Christmas Lights.
Fiona Fox, Warminster Town Clerk, said, “Our lantern making workshops have always been popular and this year Three Horseshoes Shopping Centre is working with us and providing sponsorship to cover costs of the materials used in both workshops.”
If your child cannot attend one of the workshops, lantern kits can be collected from the Civic Centre and are available for official groups of Brownies, Cubs and local primary schools.
Fiona continues: “Any school-age child who makes a lantern with our lantern making kits will have the opportunity to enter their lantern in to the competition for best lantern. The two winners will be chosen on the 24th November and asked to turn on the Warminster Christmas Lights this year.”
Warminster Town Council is working on planning the Christmas festivities and is confident that this year’s Christmas Lights Switch-On will be one to remember.
