New Committee for Warminster Town Council Services

Tuesday 23rd October 2018:

New Committee for Warminster Town Council Services.

The Devolved Services and Assets Committee manages the devolved services and assets of Warminster Town Council. These include: the Lake Pleasure Grounds (embracing the Pavilion Café, play area, skatepark, paddling pool, tennis courts, pitch and putt, boat hire, flower beds etc.), the public toilets, bus shelters and benches.

The committee deals with those services that used to be run by Wiltshire Council but are now run by the Town Council, hence the title: “Devolved”.

It is expected that the work of the committee will expand as the Town Council takes on the running of more play areas and other services, currently provided by Wiltshire Council, in future years.

The first meeting of the new committee was held on Tuesday 17th October 2018. Councillor Denis Brett was elected Chairman and Councillor Sue Fraser was elected Vice-Chairman.

 Councillor Denis Brett.

Speaking after the meeting, Councillor Brett said: “I am delighted to be able to continue the work of running services in Warminster for Warminster. People have welcomed the improvements we have made to the Lake Pleasure Grounds and the benefits that running local services locally can bring. I look forward to working with this excellent team taking on challenging issues for the benefit of our town.”
