Tuesday 18th June 2019:
The Walk For Wards, an annual event held in the grounds of Wilton House, fundraising for the Salisbury District Hospital Stars Appeal, is already gaining pace for 2019.
Among
the many who will be walking on Sunday 7th July are a group of 23
family members and friends from Warminster and nearby. They are Debbie,
Andy, Archie, Finn, Eli, Craig, Max, Blossom, Tilly, Carley, Chloe,
Niamh, Chanie, Kurtis, Courtney, Sarah, Daisy, Emma, Jack, Brody, Katie,
Sam and Grace.
Debbie said:
"We
are raising funds to support two very special wards at Salisbury
District Hospital ~ Sarum Ward and NICU. We intend to divide our grand
total between the two."
"My
youngest son Finn was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2015, when he was 3
years old, in Sarum Ward. He was on active treatment for three and a
half years with daily chemotherapy and weekly blood tests, and Sarum
have fully supported us on our very long and difficult journey. Finn has
now finished his treatment and is thankfully cancer free."
"Identical
twins Blossom and Tilly were born very early at 29 weeks and spent
months in NICU. The provided-parent-accommodation made life, which was
extremely hard, ever so slightly easier. Somewhere for normality, even
for half an hour. It would be lovely to be able to provide more rooms.
There are currently four available, but with an occpancy of 14 premature
/ poorly babies at any one time, this is sadly not enough. Please help
us to make a difference."
"We
have set up a Just Giving page online. Donating through Just Giving is
simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Just Giving -
they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate,
they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most
efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the
charity."
"We
have set up our page using our chosen group name for the event -
Rainbow Warriors." We have set ourselves a target of £1,000 and the last
time I looked we had £110 donated so far. Thank
you! People have been super busy getting paper sponsors too which will
will add to this total. My dear Mum has donated £70."

There's a choice of routes: 3k, 5k or 10k. And you can nominate where
your donations go - you choose which ward or department at Salisbury
District Hospital is to be the recipient of your fundraising.
Registration (which is free) can be made via the Salisbury District
Hospital Stars Appeal website: www.starsappeal.org
Advanced registration only - closing date 1st July.
