Danny Howell is a writer, poet, publisher, photographer, and amateur film maker, born in Warminster, Wiltshire, UK, where he still lives and works, researching and recording all aspects of his home town and the surrounding area, including Salisbury Plain and the Wylye Valley.

His books, mostly specialising on local history in and around Warminster, have proved extremely popular and include the Remember Warminster series (5 volumes so far) and the Warminster Wylye Valley And District Recorder (12 volumes so far). Over forty titles have been published since 1985.
His publishing imprint Bedeguar Books works in close partnership with the Warminster And Wylye Valley Society For Local Study. Local history is its speciality but other genres including biographies and poetry are considered.

In 1993 Danny Howell received the Citizen Of Warminster award for not only promoting his home town on television, radio and in the press, but also for his fundraising charity work. He has played a major role in many of Warminster's organisations, including Warminster Dewey Museum, the Warminster Civic Trust, and the Warminster Preservation Trust, as well as serving in practical ways for several groups, including the Warminster History Society, the Promotion Of Warminster Committee, Warminster Carnival, and the Warminster And Wylye Valley Society For Local Study.

This website dannyhowell.net includes extracts from Danny's books, as well as hitherto unpublished notes, never-seen-before photographs, and a variety of important work in progress. To all of this has been added a huge selection of material, including archives and ephemera, much of it researched or collected by Danny, swelled with generous contributions from many of his kind friends and supporters.
It is hoped that this information will prove more than useful to anyone connected with or interested in Warminster and its surrounds, whether they are dedicated historians, family tree researchers, local residents or visitors, or just the plain curious.

Danny has also taken the opportunity to use this site to not only promote his locality by including what's on information and community profiles, but also to publish his family tree genealogy, his autobiographical notes, and to comment on things that interest him in the bigger wider world! He sincerely hopes you will enjoy reading and looking at everything on this site.
